Great news: the interior of the DESSA gallery became a cultural monument of local importance on March 25, 2024.
On June 14, 2019, the DESSA Gallery sent the Ljubljana unit of the ZVKDS an initiative for monument protection of the interior and facade of the DESSA Gallery at Židovska steza 4 in Ljubljana, the author of which was architect Boris Podrecca. By protecting the interior of the DESSA gallery, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018, we also wanted to celebrate the 80th birthday of architect Boris Podrecca (born January 30, 1940) in 2020.
In 2020, ZVKDS prepared the documents and sent it to the Municipality of Ljubljana (MOL) for further processing. On January 19, 2024, we asked MOL about the protection procedure. The MOL then reacted very quickly and today, 25/03/2024, city's councilors confirmed that the interior of the DESSA gallery is an exceptional piece of architecture worthy of becoming a cultural monument of local importance.
