You are cordially invited to the opening of the exhibition Theoretical Practice of Architecture at Work, which will take place on Monday, 17 February 2025, at 7 p.m. in the DESSA Gallery.
Architectural theory is a practice that has its own specific temporality. It must always return to the past, to successfully constructed works of architecture, such as texts, built structures, and projects, in order to develop further, that is, to establish itself and operate in each present, and to do so in such a way that it simultaneously opens up possibilities for its continuation in the future, a continuation that is not already inscribed in the given present and in the set of options that it offers for choice. This kind of dimension of architectural theory will interest us in our project: its ability to cut through the linear flow of time, into the given present, with its action, and thereby open the way for new, as yet unforeseeable possibilities. We will develop this ability in a way that is characteristic of our practice. Instead of an exhibition of objects and images, we will organize a series of theoretical lectures and discussions, a reading seminar and a student conference in the DESSA gallery. We will therefore exhibit our practice itself. Our exhibition exhibit will be the theoretical practice of architecture at work.
Prof. Dr. Petra Čeferin
The series of events is curated by Petra Čeferin (author of the concept and curator of the exhibition) and Uroš Mikanovič (co-curator). It will conclude with a student conference of the seminar on the theoretical practice of architecture (2024/25), which is taking place at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ljubljana under their mentorship.
