Jože Plečnik Central European Architecture Award
Next year will be 50 years since we have been awarding the highest award for architecture in Slovenia - the Jože Plečnik Award. It is less well known that for several years in Prague, too, they have been awarding an architectural award with the same name, dedicated to their architects. On the 150th anniversary of Plečnik's birth, they decided to expand it into the Jože Plečnik Central European Architecture Award. It is intended for architects from the so-called Visegrad Group - from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. Slovenia was also invited, since Plečnik is a countryman. The award is given by the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, and this year he presented it for the first time on Wednesday, September 14, at the Prague Castle. To make sure everything was in order, our president Borut Pahor was first awarded the Jože Plečnik Grand Prix. It was awarded to him by the chairman of the administration of the Prague Castle in Ljubljana on August 26, 2022, and Borut Pahor, together with Czech president Miloš Zeman, took over the patronage of the award.
